Day 4!

This morning, Thursday July 11th, we had the opportunity to go to the Panama Christian Academy, a K-12th grade school, and interact with kids. Visiting the school totally reminded me of home, because the majority of student population there was Chinese! Haha. The Chinese population in Panama is much higher than I had anticipated... Pretty awesome, right? I'm thinking that God sent us to Panama knowing that we had a common platform to stand on with the people here out of all the Latin american countries we could have gone to!

At the school, different grades levels have recess at alternating periods. We basically spent the morning hanging out in their quad (area between all of the buildings where the children hang out) and desperately vying for any form of attention from the kids who were having recess. Praise the Lord that each period we had a set of new kids, so many of us got second chances to interact with them! (Not gonna name any names ;P) Haha. We also had the chance to hold a basketball clinics for the 3rd and 12th graders during their PE classes! Can I just mention that they all have to change into matching PE clothes that I think are just delightful? Chris led us in improving (for some of us) our non-existent basketball skills. What a baller.

One thing that really impressed me was that the older kids knew several different languages. A 7th grade girl I had the opportunity to talk to (her name was Mercedes) was penta-lingual! She knew Cantonese, Hakka, Mandarin, Spanish, and English! That's crazy! Especially since she was only in 7th grade!
Okay. On a more serious note, I'll be honest here: I think I miss home. I think many other people do too. But (quote) "Julie is here, so its okay." - Julie Wong

I'm done now. Juliana's turn!

Peace out,  Amy <3

hello. it's juliana, not amy. We went to the Panama Canal.

It was quite educational. And fun. I think the only thing I learned about the canal was there were no Chinese people that worked on the canal. There was a museum and in the museum was dead bugs like beetles, butterflies, cockroaches, and many other bugs from Panama. My goal was to read every informational card they had on the wall but that didn't work when I got to the third floor. I won't talk about how the canal works because you will be bored and will close this blog. oh! I forgot the educational 3-D movie about the canal  in the dark, cool, interior of the theater. Julie and Merry just told me that they fell asleep during the educational video.
You guys are missing out on the cheap pineapple and smelly papaya. They taste better than the ones in the states. That is all. Good day.

OH. A cute pic of our missionary family!

Bye!

Jorim's dad really likes bugs (weired, I know) It would be nice if Jorim can take some pictures of the Panama's native bugs.

Keeping you all in our prayers! GO TEAM.............................
